World Book Day Celebrations

2nd Mar 2017

The pupils of St. Joseph's P.S. celebrated, with pupils from across the world, the annual World Book Day event. Children came to school dressed as their favourite character from fiction. The children were questioned in their chosen role. The Queen of Hearts was very aggrieved to discover that there were three Alices in the crowd. She interrogated them as to the whereabouts of her tarts and threatened, "Off with their heads!" The Mad Hatter also added to her grief.

Meanwhile Toad from Toad Hall was delighted to meet up with Lightning Mc Queen. The two are planning a road trip around the Caledon area so be warned!

The children were excited to see the boy from "The Polar Express" and he in turn was very happy to make friends with Bruno, the boy in the striped pyjamas and Mr. Stink.

Several fairy tale characters made an appearance on the day including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Snow White. Little Bo Peep also visited the event and asked if any one has seen her sheep.  Where's Wally was also anxious to find himself!

The Cat in the Hat shared a joke with The Tin Man and Farmer Dan. Meanwhile Tracy Beaker was delighted to meet so many Roald Dahl characters. These included Matilda, Fantastic Mr. Fox, the turtle from Esio Trot and Mrs. Killy Kranky. Mary Poppins flew in with her umbrella and explained that "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!"

Madeline from Paris and Harry Potter from Hogwarts met the Rainbow Fairy and they were on hand to help Mr. Bump when he fell over. The emoji character was able to give a scared face to the Beetle Juice character.

All in all, a fun day was had by all!
