Cezanne Art Project
Following our apple picking adventures, P5-7 have been exploring how apples have been portrayed in art. We looked at a selection of apple paintings and were particularly impressed by Cezanne's still life.
We decided to create our own versions of the painting. The pupils selected apples, table cloths, jugs, baskets, bottles and jars. They arranged them to create a modern tribute to Cezanne's painting. Over the past few weeks they have created beautiful artwork, firstly observing and sketching. Then the children decided which medium to use. Final works produced were a mix of painting, using only primary colours to create the secondary colours, colouring pencil and oil pastels. It was so lovely to see our pupils now able to take the lead in their creative endeavours. We are looking forward to our other art projects planned for this year.
