Ernst & Young reach out to St. Joseph's P.S!
Colleen, Finnola and Caoimhe, Representatives from Ernst &Young Professional Services, Belfast, visited St.Joseph's P.S. today to launch a school based ICT programme, as part of their community support initiative. Over the next 8 weeks, they will help the KS2 pupils develop some coding skills, which may prove very useful in the workplace of the future. The pupils will experience working together, co-operating, communicating effectively and problem solving in teams - all skills which are very necessary for a successful work-life. Working with Scratch programming they began to explore how to use different code blocks to create a program to add sound, sprites and movement. Testing, adjusting and retesting codes, until they are correct is really important too. Pupils are learning to stay focused, not give up, try and retry - skills we all need to develop. The code is only as good as the programmer! Everyone really enjoyed working and learning together. We can't wait for next week! Thanks again to the Ernst and Young team for their expertise and support.
