Shared Education class with Churchill PS
1st Jun 2024
Our shared lessons continued this week, with Churchill P.S., in St.Joseph's P.S. This week we were learning the meaning of stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination. Through active learning activities including a moving debate, we looked at statements and discussed our attitudes and opinions. We saw how our thoughts could lead to attitudes and actions that are not kind or appropriate.
Would you agree or disagree with these statements- For example:
Men can't cook,
Women are better at caring for children than men,
Boys shouldn't cry,
Women are worse drivers than men!
We also completed an activity to help us explore our attitudes about who we'd want to live beside us, and to see that we should never "judge a book by its cover!"
We completed an art activity and used the big parachute too.
Thanks to Jodie and Miriam, from Speedwell, for helping us to explore these concepts in an age appropriate and fun way. We had a great morning with our friends from Churchill P.S. and we are looking forward to our next lesson.
